Pathways Tasmania Inc
Tasmania’s only transitional (long-term) shelter for male youth (13-22 yrs) who are homeless and often troubled by mental health issues. Launch also caters for clients who need youth detention alternatives. Launch operates one 6-bed “high care” shelter at 10a Wellesley Street, South Hobart 7004 where all residents initially stay with 24/7 supervision, plus two 2-bed “independent living” (nearby in South Hobart) units for qualified existing residents (aged 18 – 22) who are ready for transition to semi-independent living.
Launch was formerly known as Youth Accommodation Services Tasmania Inc, or “YASTAS”, and has been operating in Hobart for over 30 years.
Launch Youth is a formal part of the State Government’s Housing Connect program, and is a certified ChildSafe Australia facility.

Is a referral required?
Referral must be through an exisiting crisis accommodation service provider, youth justice system, Tas Police or other recognised agencies that deal with teen homelessness issues. An emergency bed (up to 2 nights) is provided for referrals directly from family members or direct contact with clients to assess their needs and then refer on to the relevant agency.
